I am one of those deviants that you probably loathe – I spend my time faving a lot of what I come across (at time of writing this article I had accumulated just under 23,000 faves) and I rarely comment on things unless I feel an overwhelming desire to.  As I work full time, I rarely get the time to do anything more than fave unfortunately.

However, I do take the time to suggest Daily Deviations on at least a weekly basis on submissions I come across that I think have truly stood out from the rest of the pack.  A lot of the time I don't actually comment on the images that I suggest as a DD, so most of the artists listed here could be surprised to see their artwork featured in this manner.  I guess you could call me a DD Suggesting Ninja? :giggle:

Here follows the DD Suggestions that I have made in the past, along with the reasoning behind my suggesting them.  Many of these pieces have few pageviews or faves, so make sure to go and check them out as well as the artists galleries – they really are worth the visit!

I'm still beautiful by littlerobin87
This has a special place in my heart as it was my first DD Suggestion.  I suggested this due to the uplifting message the title of the piece has, especially considering the history of the cat in question. I believe that anyone could view this bold statement of fact and correspond it to their own life - we are all still beautiful, no matter what we look like.

Automobile1 by TrIcKyMiCkY1
This image struck me as I was going through my pending thumbs and I couldn't help but become enchanted by it. It reminds me of my parents (my dad especially) who used to own a car just like this one, and makes me ponder on days gone by, when going for a drive was deemed to be a leisure activity rather than merely getting from point A to point B. The licence plate itself made me smile, in a way making me think that the owner is poking fun at not only himself but the general public as they view this magnificent machine going past.

Let's dance, becauce today.... by hoschie
I came across this picture and couldn't help but fall in love with it. What tipped it over the edge for me to suggest as a DD is the wonderful message for lost animals everywhere in the description.

Yoda by CrimsonArts
Although it appears that the artist is no longer active, I think this piece is a marvellous indication of what can be done three dimensionally. It absolutely floored me when I came across it, with the enormously emotive expression on his face.

Hue and Saturation by bigbear74
I'm usually not a big fan of conceptual photos, but this one stopped me in my tracks. The clarity and vibrant colour of this picture is gorgeous, and even though I hate needles, I could happily look at this image for hours.

Mandalorian Outlaw by AstroVisionary
It's not often I come across traditional coloured pencil work on black paper. This is a wonderful example of what can be achieved with traditional art supplies, patience and complete attention to detail.

Spirit of the Rainforest by oddballoffun
This piece stopped me in my tracks when I saw it in my inbox and it looks even better full size. For some reason it makes me feel very calm and content when I look at this picture.

Dogge II by Michelano
This deviant continually surprises me with his uploads. This image made me think how regal this creature is and the monochromatic feel to the image is fantastic.

Red Hat by Sesjusz
I love the colours in this piece. Such simplicity at first glance, but so much detail the more you look into the picture. I get such a sense of loneliness from this piece, but also a sense of hope - the red hat is going somewhere, hopefully where they won't be lonely anymore.

Shadow hunter by masscreation
What great menace in this birds eyes! Every time I look at this piece I find myself transfixed by his eyes. I really wouldn't like to be a mouse...

:thumb182023903: :thumb182023705:
This was the first time that I had suggested two images in the one note.
These are among the first couple of pieces of slower shutter speed that DarrenClarke has taken, and I sincerely hope he continues taking long exposure shots if this is any indication of what he can do. The colours that he captured in Dramatic Ocean are wonderfully subtle and vibrant at the same time; whilst the lack of colour in Solitary lends the piece a gorgeous mystical quality. I love both pieces so much I couldn't decide which one to suggest, so I submitted both!

Moon Bridge 1 by cami-rox
Wow... the colours just blow me away on this. Everything about this is so calm and tranquil, a true reflection of a Japanese Garden; and a perfect representation of this time of year. Did I mention the colours? :D

familiar by pyrrhite

A stunning display of what can be done with sheer determination - no blending stump was used, and astonishingly, a mechanical pencil was used rather than the traditional kind. A beautiful image that makes me wonder what they're both watching through the window.

:faint: by RemiroQuai
After reading a recent Project Educate news article, I came to realise how easy it is to forget that all of the emotes that we use regularly on dA were actually created by deviants. This is one I use very often, and was astounded to find out that not only it was created seven years ago, it only has 27 faves! Adding to that, this was actually the artists very first emote! :faint: Astonishing!!

Pencil Tutorial by Girl-on-the-Moon
Girl-on-the-Moon is an incredible artist with a wonderful sense of humour, which is evident in this tutorial on how she develops her art. A great, down-to-earth, and very easy to understand tutorial.  ** I also noted in the suggestion, that although she's been on dA for over four years, and is very popular with her Search for the Truth comics, she has never actually received a DD.

No Longer AnonymousNo longer can I remain anonymous, just another girl checking in for her doctor's appointment.  The moment I tell them the visit is to be billed to the state, and present this voucher, which might as well be painted in bright red blood, dripping and leaving a breadcrumb trail for all, with a neon sign that reads "sexual assault," I become that girl.
I see the way their eyes change.  I see how they look at me.  The hardness of the day, painted in the lines on their face, softens, just a bit.  Their eyes, normally cold and focused, now try to melt my heart with their temporary concern.
I sit in the waiting room amongst the anonymous people.  There's the elderly couple across from me; the Hispanic family: three kids occupied by the mom while the dad talks loudly on the phone, his bulbous body exceeding the chair he sits on; the blonde woman with her adorable blonde-headed daughter in the white linen dress; and all the other an

This heartbreaking tale is only more wondrous when you realise it's all true. A wonderful piece that recounts the shocking aftermath of a sexual assault. Something everyone should read.

Breaking News by Scewt
Taken during the Queensland Flood Crisis, this perfectly illustrated the horror and drama of what Queenslanders were going through at the moment of suggesting this.

Blurred Cologne by MisterKhorny
A wonderfully different way of viewing a city! I love the fact that it's so abstract, but you can still very much see the cityscape that was taken. Just beautiful!

Cleator.06 by heelontheshovel Cleator.05 by heelontheshovel
These are simply just wonderful images of country life! Beautiful colours, awesome layout... what else is there to say?

Noisy Underground by DostorJ
The perspective on this is awesome! The graininess of the image really helps the image and contributes to the feel of an almost grimy underground. Love it!

Gastown Steam Clock by Sunhillow
I just adore the colours in this! It makes me think of Steam Punk and London, but it's actually from Canada. The artist comments are well worth the read too!

Abstract Beach by Mfotografie
I absolutely adore the colours in this, they match together so beautifully. I love the sense of movement that he has been able to capture. Just stunning!

Sweet scent of decay... by wolfcreek50
The sense of foreboding I get with this image (as with almost all of this deviant's submissions) is overwhelming, but it still embodies the sense of country life.

:thumb192944159:
So calming... I need to pin this above my desk to remind me why I work - this makes me want to go on holiday!

All Things Must Pass by reydoo
This reminds me of my mum who passed away a couple of years ago now. I could imagine her being given these flowers by my dad and keeping them for years and years; before them finally being the only reminder of her love for him after she had passed. Hopeless romantic? Maybe. Great shot? Definitely.

p e r f e c t i o n by reydoo
What can I say? I love motorbikes. I don't know anything about them, but the forms and shapes of them make for very interesting photos, as this so wonderfully shows. I love the horizon line in the background too - I'm not sure if it would have as much appeal if it wasn't there.

Shower Window by reydoo
The sense of good old fashioned fun is undeniable. I can't believe this has only four faves! The colours work brilliantly and I can seriously imagine someone in the background saying "Grr... Argh..." whilst taking the photo! :D

Behind the Backstop by reydoo
The colours in this are just gorgeous; the focus is spot on and the square format of the image suits this down to a tee. Beautiful image!

Dirty mirror's edge by bubus666
Such a dark and gritty shot that scares the crap out of me! I really wouldn't like to be alone here after dark!

Downtown Denver from park ave by designKase
I'm a sucker for extended exposure night cityscapes, and I couldn't let this image pass me by without suggesting it for a DD. The colours are crisp and I get a real sense of being on the rooftop with the photographer when he took the shot. Great job!

Separations by aoj211
Such ghostly figures! Definitely an otherworldly feel to this wonderful city life shot. Great job!

You can ride it if you like by sendjo
The angles and curves in this image are what I love most about this picture. The lack of colour also makes for a stunning composition.

directions by sendjo
The simplicity of this image is breathtaking! The hint of colour in an otherwise black and white image is what ties everything together. Just wonderful!

:thumb183568463:
The sense of being lost that I get from looking at this deviation is overwhelming, but the maze is leading me somewhere - maybe there's an answer to all that I seek right around that next corner...?

Sea Devil Bust by spr0ket
I was blown away when I stumbled upon this deviation! The intricate work in this is absolutely superb. Check out the rest of his gallery for more stunning pieces!

:thumb198339324:
I love the grunge feel that this image has; so gritty and raw. The hints of red in this certainly give a lovely balance to the dark shadows.

Roue Parisienne by lawra
The perspective on this image is absolutely brilliant! Such movement in such a crisp shot - wonderful job!

Wola gasworks 2 by photogosiek
This image is full of trickery - at first I thought I was looking at a photo of the night sky, until I realised it was the middle of the day and it was the decaying roof that was making me imagine the stars. I also didn't think that the abandoned building was so huge, until I noticed the staircase on the left! Brilliant job!

And the ones that were accepted…

Sea Eagle by krystledawn
This is a wonderfully new point of view for a bird photo that I haven't seen before. The focus on the eye is wonderful and I feel like I could reach into the image and pat him (and then get my hand chomped off!)

Now Renting by PeteLatham
I love seeing landscapes with no horizon line, and this one is a perfect example of how it can be done well. I love the tiny bit of red that draws your eye in to the picture, makes me feel like I'm a part of the image.

SHADOWSCAPES DUBAI by Ssquared-Photography
The people in this image create a sense of self not normally seen in cityscapes. It makes me wonder where they've just been out to and where in the skyline are they returning to? Great shot.

summer in Slavonia by sendjo
The colours in this are stunning! Really makes me feel like I'm in the paddock with the haybales, on a beautiful summer afternoon.

The feeling that you get when you find out a suggestion you have made is going to be featured is one of pure joy – it rivals actually receiving a Daily Deviation!

So what are you waiting for?  Start suggesting today! :dummy:

Disclaimer: These are suggestions that I have made based on my own personal opinions.  If you don’t like them, that’s more than okay.

Hey, thanks for this. I don't suggest DDs or at least haven't in general. You reminded me of a photo that had floored me and deserved to be far wider seen. It hadn't occurred to me to suggest it. And now, I did. I'll cross my fingers. :D

Yes, I occasionally do. So far 7 art suggestions from this account made it to a DD (it has been 8 really, but one GM had forgotten, that I had suggested the DD and thus didn't mention me as suggester) and 7 suggestions for stock art and resources from my stock account have been successful. :-)

Also, I absolutely hate this high number of deviation errors and especially the horribly increased number of server errors lately!

i suggest DDs only when i truly feel strongly that a piece or artist deserves one. i dont just randomly suggest everything though lol. and for people who complain that they see crap being featured. my stance is that even the less skilled artists deserve a chance to be seen too, especially since the good artists most likely already are well noticed. i suggest amatuer stuff occasionally too if they really put the effort into it. Im perfectly fine with seeing the not as good stuff show up in the DD features too :) lol

If you like a deviation that you think is DD worthy, check this in #communityrelations where the updated list of Gallery Moderators are listed. Find the Gallery moderator for the category of the deviation you are suggesting and check if they have any specific guidelines or not. Note: The deviant must have a 3 month gap between their previous DD and the one you are suggesting. you can check that by adding dds after their profile link, such as, username.deviantart.com/dds.

I suggest as often as I can, but so far only six deviations actually made it. I agree, it's a wonderful feeling when your favorite works get featured.

I seriously became addicted to this whole DD suggesting thing since one of my own works was featured and I experienced the power of DD in action, first hand.
