"Rick, I can't believe you've only got a month left with us!" Lara exclaimed, as she sat opposite me in our little cubicle farm.

I smiled contentedly at her.  I glanced at the calendar and sure enough, there was only a few more short weeks left before I was free.  It sure had crept up on me.

"What do you think you'll do with all of that spare time you'll soon have?" she asked me.

"Oh, I don't know.  I was thinking of just being able to sleep past six in the morning," I grinned wickedly at her, knowing full well that she would have to continue getting up at horrible hours.  She laughed at m

Bob peered at me, as he grabbed some paper towels.  He placed them in the wash basin, before turning the hot tap on.

I fidgeted a little, knowing that he was going to get me to wash my bloodied hands.  They looked worse than they actually were, but they still needed quick attention.

"You know you need to wash them.  You're a mess," he admonished me as I pouted at him.  He brought the towels to me and placed them in my hands.  I grimaced as they stung, but I knew I needed to keep them there for as long as I could.  Maybe if I could clear some of the blood, I could see what sort of damage had been done.  I knew that I was going

Sound began to filter through the nothingness.  A ringing was pressing through my eardrums, no matter how much I tried to clamp my hands down on my ears.  I gave up and let my hands drop to my lap as I sat there.

Everything around me was grey.  The very air was visible in the strange after effects of whatever had just happened.  I started to see people move towards and past me coated in dust; some bleeding; all visibly in shock.

A strange sense of purpose stirred within me as I sat on the sidewalk.  I should get up and help somehow, shouldn't I?  But would I know what to do?  I worked in an office for Gods sake!  I pushed paper

Digital Photo taken a few days ago along the Yarra River in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

No cropping, but slight contrast added.

Third in the Melbourne After Dark series. This one's not focusing on the river as much as the others, but along the boulevard adjacent to the river. It surprised me how bright this photo came out - I wasn't expecting it to be as bright as it ended up being. Quite happy with the result, though. Hope you like it too :D
